Clyde kept records of all the money he earned. An example of this 1928 record is on the left. He worked other jobs in addition to having his own farm.

He earned $1.30 for three full days of work for corn picking. On October 26 and 27, he earned $1.20 for his 2 days of work. One day he earned 68 cents for his labor. Copyright © 2001 |

Clyde kept wonderful records of all their purchases, also.
Here an example of "2 double trees" where the price was 75 cents and a saw for $1.70. We do not know what kind of saw he purchased. A double tree is the crossbar on a carriage, wagon, plow, etc. When two horses are used, the singletrees of their harnesses are attached to this crossbar. Copyright © 2001 |
